For the art show I decided to make simple, but unique bowls and mugs. I was inspired by ice cream bowls I have at home that have a unifying texture made by faceting. It is a method of altering the surface of a piece by cutting off slices. I achieved this by using a trim tool to make this texture while it was leather hard. Once, it was completely dry, I went back and used a metal rib to in order to smooth it out. I also made a weaved piece. First, I rolled out and compressed the clay. Next I cut the strips and weaved them on a sheet of plastic. I then set the plastic in a bowl as a mold. I scored and slipped the edges to make sure it didn't crack. Lastly, I rolled out more clay and swirled it to score and slip it on the edge in order to make the twisted rim.For my glaze I used a combination of “Cherry Blossom” and “Weeping Plum” to make this pink color.
